Florence is famous for its cultural and social innovations. By exposing students to historical achievements and some current attempts at social innovations, the programme aims at allowing students to reflect on how innovation, culture, and society can interplay to produce improvements in the life of the citizens.

Program Content:

• Italian language course (for acquiring basic communication skills and cultural information)

• Activities to interview or dialogue with experienced people in the fields of social care, intercultural or interreligious dialogue:

Eg. Discussion with leaders of the Muslim, Jewish, and Christian/Catholic communities about their collaboration for peace and local social issues;

• Visit to company which offers training courses for immigrants

• Visit to an innovative project in the field of “civil economics”/social enterprises

• Visit to Galleria degli Ufizi, Museo Galileo and Museo di Storia Naturale
