Abstract:

This project leverages AI to transform Chinese language education by automating essay grading and delivering personalized feedback. It boosts students' writing skills and exam readiness, while reducing teachers' grading workload. Chinese Writing Wizard aims to improve outcomes, enhance accessibility, and foster engaging, effective learning through technology integration.

Project Progress

Chinese Writing Wizard integrated a new OCR engine for better handwriting recognition and redesigned its AI reporting model for improved readability. Prototypes for junior secondary and primary schools were released for free trials, with over 90 secondary and 10 primary schools participating. A launch event attracted over 200 teachers, and over 10 secondary schools converted to paid subscriptions.

Following the previous progress, the team enhanced workflow integration, AI consistency, and technical support, resolving over 500 queries. Over 130 secondary schools trialed the tool, with over 80 converting to paid subscriptions. A primary school prototype was being piloted for a mid‑2025 launch. The team's training materials also reached over 400 schools. Lastly, the AI Essay Grading Report 2.0 was launched with visual analytics.
