According to Hong Kong Observatory, 2024 was Hong Kong’s warmest year on record, with extreme weather events becoming more frequent and intense. It showcased the urgent need for climate action.

College Energy-saving Competition [Guidelines]

We are launching a College-wide energy-saving challenge to reduce electricity consumption by more than 5% from October 2025 to January 2026 (compared to the same period last year). ALL Wu Yee Sun College students are eligible. Both residents or non-residents can contribute in College-wide efforts for a greener future. 

What to do, and why? (Submission Deadline: 30 November 2025)

• Reduce electricity consumption in College building - It does not only help protecting our environment, but also save electricity charges.
• Complete the online survey [Click HERE] - By gathering feedback on energy-saving awareness and behaviour, it helps us to better design our activities on sustainability and energy-efficiency.
• Post one energy-saving action you have taken using your own Instagram account with hashtag #WYSSavePower, and keep the post published until 31 March 2026 - We encourage everyone to take part and make a difference. Simple actions like adjusting your air-conditioning settings, using fans, and turning off unused lights can significantly reduce energy consumption.

Prizes: If the targeted reduction in electricity consumption is achieved, students who complete this online survey and post an energy-saving action taken using their own Instagram account before submission deadline will be entered into a lucky draw. Up to 20 students will be drawn for winning $100 cash each!

Intra-hostel Air-conditioning Usage Reduction Competition [Guidelines]

The hostel room with the lowest air-conditioning usage during the competition period will be declared the winning hostel rooms. Save energy to win FREE MEALS!

How to Join: All resident students are automatically enrolled for the competition (Round 1: October; Round 2: November).

Prizes: 3 hostel rooms will be awarded in each round. In case of a tie, winners will be selected through a random draw. Each resident of winning hostel room can win TWO meals of 3-dish meal of College Student Canteen & TWO lunch sets of College Café
